The present education system is not taking proper care of full physical, mental, intellectual potentialities of the children. Therefore it is necessary to develop the creative skills from early childhood. The competencies which has so far been neglected and which requires special attention for the development of creativity among children were identified as:
Concentration
Imagination
Thinking
Memory
Problem solving
Technological skill
Power of Observation
Social decision making
Managerial Skills
Every child is born creative. Educational methods should endeavor to bring out the inherent creative currents in a child. School education should be more activity oriented rather than information oriented.
A child should be groomed just like a tree. Give water, manure, proper culture, make proper provision for sunlight and air and it will grow. Don't hurry up. Creativity comes to a child in a most informal way. So create proper learning environment. Don't teach. Let the child learn. Teachers are facilitators just like a gardener.
Apart from subject-based teaching basic processes of self-learning should be initiated. For this purpose competency-based evaluation system should be devised.
