Mail server will connect using modem or leased line or vsat to internet. When connected via modem it will be programmed to download mails periodically by connecting to mail server of ISP. It will be a Linux machine and would have proxy server and web server running. The mails will be forwarded to User Login server machine.
User login server will have user accounts, initially for teachers and later for students as well. This will also be on Linux and would permit users to check their mails on the machine or from other PCs. THis will have printer attached, which can be used from any PC.
User PC will be dual boot Linux/Windows and this along with the two existing PC can be used by users. Scanner will be attached to this.
FAX will be in the principal's office.
Digital camera will have USB interface and it will b possible to transfer images to any of the user PC
UPS will be only for Mail server and the User Login Server
The system has been designed in a way that no change would be necessary if one moves from dialup internet to leased line/vsat based internet link. The system also permits students to not only see the internet pages but also to be able to make theie own pages with the help of scanner and camera.
We will also buy/donate books and CD-ROMS of relevance to the school library related to computer uses and internet
